Ancillary Tasks

Alongside our trailer we were also required to create two ancillary tasks. The ancillary tasks were to create a front page of a film magazine promoting our film and a poster.
We started off this process by doing an on-scene photoshoot, Alastair Crees brought his Canon EOS 450d, we then went on to take a range of different shots with backdrops around the filming premises.
We thought it was important to have Louis (our main actor) in the poster and magazine front cover and we wanted him to be dressed in a typical outfit to go with his role, therefore we chose the stereotypical wife beater with jeans to create that rough, fight club look.
Once we had an array of images, it was back to the computers and time to look through them. We chose a few that looked promising and put them into Photoshop CS4 where we started to edit the images. After some editing on a few images we started to notice the best ones to use and subsequently dropped the others and continued working on our final prints.
When working on the magazine front cover we looked at 'Empire' magazine and decided to follow the tone and layout they set. With our poster, we decided to create a mood according to the 'fight' and 'action' genre of the film, we found a graffiti background which we merged in and then chose a graffiti font which we found online.
